Coat Hanger: Concept Ideas (Updated)


Most of the function, form, and user experience are mentioned in the photo so I'll just be covering what Dieter Rams mentions for what makes a good product.


Concept #1 is: innovative, aesthetic, honest (?), consistent in detail


Concept #2 is: innovative, useful, aesthetic, understandable, honest, consistent in detail, environmentally friendly (can probably be made from recyclable materials) 


Concept #3 is: innovative, useful, honest, unobtrusive, long-lived, consistent in detail


Concept #4 is: useful, understandable, honest, unobtrusive, long-lived, little design as possible


Concept #5 is: innovative, useful, unobtrusive, long-lived


Concept #6 is: innovative, useful, aesthetic, understandable, honest, consistent in detail.

I chose to move forward with concept two as it was my favorite of the concepts I made and you gave me some good advice on how to move forward with it. I knew Id have to adjust it quite a bit but it still has the same idea.



This is the new concept. I got rid of the extra stuff on top and focused on the coat part itself, now its just a bar that the hooks would slide on to, then the brakets would slide on to each end. 




I wasn't able to figure out how to make the hook a closed shape but this is the main idea.

Hollow Form Concept's

          1)  It's essentially just an hourglass but I thought it would be cool. I twisted the pegs to make it more interesting and an attempt of adding more support, but I'm not sure if it'll print because of the slopes in the center, speaking of getting that center part how I wanted it was a struggle.               2)      This one was essentially just a product of figuring out the commands, on concept one I was trying to use bend to do what twist does which was getting me nowhere, after I eventuality figured that out I messed around with twist for this model.            3) I tried to focus more on if the model would print successfully for this one, as while I did have if it'll print in the back of my mind while making the other two I'm not confident they won't fail, hence this one.           4) I went into this model with a jack-in...

A Castle

  This is a small castle that can most likely house just a few people. Though that's probably for the best, because of the excessive towers I don't think there's many people who would want to put up with the amount of stairs it would have.
