Concepts of Paper Vessel

Image
We chose coffee beans (I didn't have any on hand) The object we chose was coffee beans, and a stovetop coffee pot was mentioned when we were brainstorming. On my own, I was thinking of things coffee would be in, hence the mug, but I thought it would be funny to have coffee packaged in a tea bag, so that's where that idea came from. As for openings and how things would close, I came up with using how a teapot keeps the lid from falling as inspiration for the pot where it'll have two taps that line up and when you twist the lid, it'll lock. I also had a thought of having a second compartment in the bottom to put coffee filters or something in there but I'm not sure how to get it to close reliably, and that's two objects, so I'm not sure if we can do that. For the tea bag I originally just wanted it to be tight enough to stay closed and open when you swished the sides, but with it being made out of paper, I think that would be a one-use thing or just not work...

The Coat Hook Final Production

Image
First stage                                              in progress                                                             T he evolution of the hooks The design we landed on Final Render Overall, the modelling went really well. The biggest struggle I had was the hooks as getting the right shape was a struggle, and when I used Sweep 2, the hooks looked bumpy and uneven, not to mention I was struggling to make it a closed shape. But I was able to fix the unevenness with Rebuild and you helped with closing the shape, so in the end, they were pretty easy fixes. But I'm really happy with how it turned out, and in the future, I feel like I could improve on my understanding of the p...

Coat Hanger: Concept Ideas (Updated)

Most of the function, form, and user experience are mentioned in the photo so I'll just be covering what Dieter Rams mentions for what makes a good product. Concept #1 is: innovative, aesthetic, honest (?), consistent in detail Concept #2 is: innovative, useful, aesthetic, understandable, honest, consistent in detail, environmentally friendly (can probably be made from recyclable materials)  Concept #3 is: innovative, useful, honest, unobtrusive, long-lived, consistent in detail Concept #4 is: useful, understandable, honest, unobtrusive, long-lived, little design as possible Concept #5 is: innovative, useful, unobtrusive, long-lived Concept #6 is: innovative, useful, aesthetic, understandable, honest, consistent in detail. ____________________________________________________________________ I chose to move forward with concept two as it was my favorite of the concepts I made and you gave me some good advice on how to move forward with it. I knew Id have to adjust it quite a bi...

Printed Hollow Form

Image
I essentially designed a cool looking hourglass, it doesn't necessarily have a function unless décor counts. The hourglass itself kind of gives a steampunk vibe or a dark academia aesthetic and with the added beams that twist around itself the form may look twisted or wonderland-esque. So far the print looks self supporting I still have some doubts on the quality of the curve of the glass but it looks like it'll print.   I chose the hourglass out of all my concepts because its my favorite design of the concepts that I made and it received positive feedback from the critic. Mainly for the design and through that I was able to get some ideas on how to make it printable, such as increasing the size of the pillars or twisting them throughout the center piece to act as supports, as well as pin pointing an expected fail point with the lip that the original had. In the end you helped out but it was still good advice regardless. The base he...
